Hydrogen-bond breaking in the water dimer
Gábor Czakó and co-workers published an article on the dissociation dynamics of the water dimer in the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS) [J. Am. Chem. Soc. 134, 15430 (2012)]. Hydrogen bonding in water is dominated by two-body interactions. The joint theoretical and experimental work investigates the energy transfer and hydrogen-bond breaking in the water dimer, thereby providing new insights into the dissociation dynamics as well as the first spectroscopically accurate dissociation energies (D0) of the H2O and D2O dimers.
